The International Association of Hydrogeologists
The International Association of Hydrogeologists is a professional association for those within disciplines related to groundwater, its occurrence, utilization, testing and management. IAH is a scientific and educational organisation that is truly international, and was established to foster closer ties, cooperation and information exchange related to the study of groundwater. IAH is non-government and non-profit and has over 3500 members internationally from around 135 countries. The Association is affiliated with the International Union of Geological Sciences (IUGS), and was founded during the 20th International Geological Congress in 1956. By its statutes, the IAH is an association of individuals and corporate members, and not a federation of national committees. National groups do, however, organise local meetings and other activities. A proportion of the national membership subscriptions goes to the local organisation to support these activities, the remainder to the international body. The country of the international secretariat is changed every several years. The IAH publishes the Hydrogeology Journal quarterly and various workshop and conference proceedings. Aims of the Association
The International Association of Hydrogeologists is a non-profit organization with the following objectives:
Australian National Chapter
The National Executive of the Australian National Chapter moves between states, and is currently based in Western Australia. Each State has its own executive to arrange local meetings and look after the running of state activities. The State Liaison Member should be contacted for any enquiries. Members are entitled to participate in all activities of IAH and to receive discount on the many publications produced by the International section of IAH. Membership will provide rewarding contact with others sharing a common professional interest. The IAH Hydrogeology Journal is published quarterly and the Australian IAH Newsletter is published four times per year. Any contributions to the IAH Newsletter are welcome to keep members up to date with hydrogeological activities in Australia. Subscription covers membership for a calender year (not the financial year), with current subscriptions active until December 2008. A member sponsorship scheme run by the Australian Chapter pays for a number of hydrogeologists from developing countries in the Asia-Pacific region to become full members of the IAH. Join our Association
IAH will accept as individual members anyone directly or indirectly engaged in study or research on, or management of water in its various forms related to hydrogeology, if sponsored by two members in good standing. Companies and research organisations can apply for corporate membership. Applications and membership payments can be made online. Please see the membership section for more details. Subscription covers membership for a calendar year. Contact details
