    • implement the new legislation,
    • participate in developing site contamination policy, and
    • work on issues related to groundwater contamination with industry, environmental auditors and consultants, local government and other state government departments

The position is funded by the two universities and a consortium of industry and government organisations coordinated by the UWA Geoscience Foundation. The two universities emphasise an integrated global perspective on issues posed by the earth and its environment and have international reputations for research and teaching in geology and geophysics.     Heathgate, the owner of Beverley Uranium Mine located in the northern Flinders Ranges (about 600 km north of Adelaide) has established a state-of-the-art mining operation producing uranium. Heathgate provides high quality site accommodation and fully equipped catering facilities, and a fantastic fly-in-fly-out (FIFO) operation from Parafield Airport and Port Augusta Airports (only). With current expansion into surrounding Exploration Tenements you will be provided with fascinating work that guarantees a challenging career in the group.

    Planning for new operations whilst maintaining current resources is no easy task; yet with your superior hydrogeological expertise and background this should be an enjoyable experience. Reporting directly to the Chief Mine Geologist, you will be responsible for planning, scheduling, reporting and providing technical support to neighbouring departments in line with business strategy.

    The position will be responsible for selected aspects of the design, construction, operation and monitoring of the commercial Wellfields, with significant elements of database management, flow modelling and data presentation. Groundwater investigations into new ore bodies for mining feasibility assessment will also be a primary target as well as providing assistance with mine lease applications to allow for planning of sustainable mining and mine closure strategies.

    Working at a senior level, you will also have the capability to effectively manage and motivate a small team of Hydrogeologists and have the ability to work in a multicultural environment with safety a key focus. The roster will be part time based at the mine site and part time based in the Adelaide CBD Office.

    Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Monitoring performance against production targets
    • Efficient monitoring and reporting of wellfield performance
    • Reporting of data/results from all wells
    • Wellfield balance management
    • Environment and occupational health and safety compliance
