The UNSW team is based both at the Kensington Campus and the Water Research Laboratory at the Manly Vale Campus, Sydney, Australia. In 2009, UNSW became a major player in the National Centre for Groundwater Research and Training, partnering with Flinders University and others around Australia.
The UNSW team is the largest, most experienced and best equipped consulting, research and training group in Eastern Australia providing integrated groundwater & surface water management solutions. Highly qualified personnel provide research and consulting services with state-of-the-art field and laboratory equipment and advanced numerical modelling software. We have practical experience solving problems for a wide range of water resource issues.
The Connected Waters Initiative is a joint initiative between UNSW School of Civil & Environmental Engineering and School of Biological Earth & Environmental Sciences (BEES). The CWI is funded from a donation by Mr Gary Johnston (CEO Jaycar), strategic UNSW funds from the Faculties of Science and Engineering and external funding from direct commissions and competitive grants.
Courses at undergraduate, postgraduate and professional levels are offered at UNSW and through the National Centre for Groundwater Research and Training (was Centre for Groundwater Studies).

RedEarthGeo provides:-
* primary assessments of the geoscientific basis of projects and developments, including review of data, strategy and processes; overview or project management of investigative programs and, as well as limited site investigations for characterisation or monitoring
* high level analytical understanding of developmental and monitoring data; as well as its collection
* understandings of difficult sites and geoscientific situations or resource developments; including review, investigation and analysis
— in urban and regional contexts — in Australia and beyond.
RedEarthGeo develops detailed conceptual understandings of sites and resources, and refines these understandings to the level required for exploitation, abstraction or action. For established projects we provide on-going assessment of the conditions and interpretation of how monitoring data affects performance and advancement, or re-evaluation or review of old and new data.
