Western Australian Committee Descriptions

The Western Australian Branch committee of the IAH has a large number of positions, and a large number of volunteers are needed to fill them! ┬áIt’s a great way to get to know and get involved with a committed group of professionals.

The responsibilities of each committee member are shown below.




  • Leadership of committee
  • Chair the majority of monthly meetings
  • Represent IAH WA in meetings with external stakeholders

Vice Chairperson

  • Provide support to the Chairperson,
  • Acting Chairperson when the Chairperson is absent


  • Communications within the committee. This includes detailed note-taking at committee meetings, organising committee events, receiving and directing communications from external parties and general assistance with communications.


  • Trustee of IAH WA accounts,
  • payment of IAH WA expenses,
  • financial reporting

Membership Champion

  • Management of membership enquiries and membership feedback,
  • maximising membership engagement,
  • maintainence of the IAH WA membership database

Sponsorship Champion

  • Maximising sponsorship opportunities for IAH WA events

State Liaison

  • Participate in IAH Australia meetings as a representative of the WA branch.

Events Team

  • Organise IAH WA events, including monthly speakers, annual seminars and social events
Communications team
  • Communications with the IAH WA membership, including: developing content, distributing content (via the IAH WA webpage, email, other platforms), documenting past events

ECHN Representative

  • Representing the interests of early career hydrogeologists, organising ECHN events

Student Representative

  • Representing the interests of student hydrogeologists

Education Representative

  • Promotion of student interests and achievements

Ordinary Committee Member

  • Committee support as required
