Managing large scale resource projects across the Australian mining industry, this role operates at the client interface, coordinating with a team of groundwater specialists to deliver on of a variety of projects.
The key objectives include managing end to end projects across New South Wales, liaising directly with clients, coordinating hydrogeological field programs and delivering a range of reports. These investigations include groundwater impact assessments and providing support and assistance in managing a team that conducts hydrogeochemical groundwater sampling, level logger installation and monitoring, falling head tests, drill hole logging and testing, installing monitoring bores and vibrating wire piezometers, packer testing, and pumping tests. You will also collaborate closely with our highly credentialed numerical modelling team.
In this role, you will assess the impacts from resource or industrial projects on groundwater systems; develop or test groundwater supplies; determine dewatering and groundwater control needs around mines and deep excavations; and assess groundwater issues to assist in the development, management, and closure of projects with the potential to contaminate or impact groundwater.
As a well-established Senior Hydrogeologist or Geotechnical Engineer with a strong geological background and comprehensive experience in the coal mining sector, you will confidently manage projects from end to end, make informed decisions and deliver quality results. You will be the type of consultant that likes to manage projects autonomously and enjoys working in a close knit, highly intelligent, dynamic team.
Hands on experience in monitoring and coordinating hydrogeological (or at minimum, geological) field operations, including rostering rig crews, logistics and logging procedures will be essential. You will have a functioning understanding of VWP installations, slug tests, pumping tests and packer testing and be available to undertake the occasional field work investigation if required. A knowledge of open pit and underground mining processes is essential.
Your extensive knowledge of groundwater management will be complimented by a thorough understanding of relevant State and Federal Government legislation. With strong verbal and written communication skills, you will produce high quality quarterly, annual and EIS reports. Your project management skills will ensure quality work is delivered on time to our clients. You will lead each project’s team and its stakeholders positively and proactively.
A degree in earth science, geoscience, environmental science, or geology will be an important feature of your educational background. Post graduate qualifications in hydrogeology or geochemistry would be an advantage.
Local applicants would be preferred, however, interstate Senior Consultants with experience working in the Hunter Valley region are encouraged to apply and relocation support will be provided.
