Hydrogeologists – Rockwater

Location: Perth

Rockwater is a specialist hydrogeological and environmental consulting firm founded in 1974 and wholly owned by its senior staff. The company has 14 full-time professional staff and a few part-time scientists, based in Perth, Western Australia with a satellite office located in Broome. Rockwater is highly regarded for its scientific rigour and reporting, has been recognised as the industry leader in the development of geothermal energy in Australia, and has contributed significantly to research and development of Managed Aquifer Recharge (MAR) in Western Australia. Rockwater is a passionate and energetic consultancy that provides opportunities for professional development, a diverse range of stimulating and rewarding projects, competitive remuneration and a supportive work environment.

About the Role

Rockwater has two vacancies for Hydrogeologists to join our team on a full-time basis. The successful candidates will have the opportunity to develop and apply their skills in hydrogeological assessments for municipal water supplies, geothermal projects, mine dewatering and water supplies and groundwater sampling assessments. The role provides opportunity for autonomy; however, you will be well supported by senior staff. There will be opportunities to work on a variety of projects throughout Western Australia and interstate.

About You

The successful candidates will have appropriate tertiary qualification, including a Bachelor’s degree in geology, earth sciences, environmental engineering or equivalent as a minimum, and ideally post-graduate qualifications in hydrogeology. You will be comfortable in participating in fieldwork programs in a variety of locations. Previous consulting experience or hydrogeological fieldwork experience in a similar role will be viewed favourably.

The position is based in our Perth office but extended fieldwork might be required on a roster. The successful applicant will be offered excellent remuneration and a field allowance. Rockwater is an equal opportunity employer and offers flexible working arrangements to promote a healthy work-life balance.

Why become a Hydrogeologist at Rockwater?

  1. You will see the results of your work: we are a small but diverse company, so your work is visible and it matters.
  2. You will take part in some of the largest water supply and water management projects in Australia: including major water supply, geothermal, environmental and mining projects.
  3. Rockwater is a great place to work: at Rockwater we have an open, friendly, welcoming and enabling culture. We are looking for likeminded people with a hands-on approach to hydrogeology and a strong drive and passion for all things groundwater.
