International Association of Hydrogeologists Australia

IAH Art and Culinary Competition

Friday 18 February, 2022

You can assist the International Association of Hydrogeologists (IAH) in supporting World Water Day on 22 March 2022 by entering our art and culinary competition with the theme of Groundwater Making the Invisible Visible.

Groundwater is the water beneath the ground surface found within the spaces within soil and rock. It is typically extracted for water supplies via windmills and pumps, discharges into swamps and wetlands, is explored using drilling rigs, flows from cliff faces and into mines and supports a variety plants and animals in arid areas and different ecosystems.

The competition is to produce a piece of groundwater related artwork such as a drawing, painting, collage, a photograph of a groundwater themed cake or a digital artwork. There are first place and second place prizes for the following age groups:

  • 6 yrs and under – Art Pack prizes awarded to the best and runner-up artwork
  • 7 to 12 yrs – Art Pack prizes awarded to the best and runner-up artwork
  • 13 yrs and over – $100 and $50 prizes awarded to the best and runner-up artwork

We have included a groundwater colouring in template, though you are encouraged to be as creative as you please.
